Little Dee! wants to go to School!

Yes o! No be small thing o! My Little Dee! (2 years +) wants to go to school. Every morning, as we leave the house, (particularly if she is awake) she cries after us! There had been instances when she actually picked a bag and said she was ready to go to school! LOL! When her older siblings are doing their homework, she wants to do her own homework too! Well, in order to encourage her, I bought her some exercise books to scribble on and some colouring books. O! she scribbles and colours well. With excitement, she shows off her "work" and of course I praise her!

Some people had told me (jokingly) to send her to school. My reply to these people is always very simple - "When she is 2 years old". After she clocked 2, these people reminded me about enrolling her in school. My answer - "The next term. I don't want her to start at in the middle of the academic year". These people have accused me of "shielding Little Dee!, but I say to them, she will resume in September, by that time she will be ready for school.

Those days, we did not start school till we were 5+. Now, a child as young as 1 year old or sometimes from 8 months, goes to school. Not day care o! School! I have seen plenty of such mini sized pupils in over sized uniforms going to school. LOL! Well, that is the system we found ourselves in today. I do not believe a child should be sent to school at such an early age except the child is able to express himself/herself. The child should be able to eat unaided (at least to an extent). I also feel the child should be potty trained.

At what age do you think a child should sent to school?

The Monstrous Oba II

Remember Olori Bolanle Adesina. The Queen who was brutally beaten by her Husband, Oluwadare Adepoju Adesina, the Deji of Akure (as he then was). Yes! That woman is dead! A year after she was brutalized by her husband. She was just 35 years old! Chei!

Please read the story here.

There are conflicting stories about the circumstances surrounding her death. Some say, it was heart related while others say she died as a result of the injuries she received from the brutality. I tend to agree with the later position because, she has been receiving treatments in various hospitals.

May her soul rest in peace. Amen!

This is Lagos!

Right now, Lagos State is a city submerged in water. This is the outcome of the continuous rain pour experienced yesterday, Sunday 10, July 2011.

When I woke up this morning, I moved at a faster pace, so we would leave the house before the rush hour. By the time we drove out of the compound, we spent at least 40 minutes trying to get to the main road! As soon as we hit the road, I noticed it was exceptionally FREE! Where are all the vehicles? My brother called me, just to warn me not to dare attempt passing through Mile 2 (Apapa/Oshodi-Express road). I thanked him and told him we now drive through an alternative longer route!

Thankfully, I was in the office by 9.00am! Miracle!

I heard Apapa-Oshodi Express Road was a "no go" route. People have been trapped there for hours! I saw some pictures of the flood on line and some were even sent via MMS to phones. Mehn! The whole thing is devastatingly annoying! WHAT?!

One story brought tears to my eyes. It was the story about the little boy that died as a result of the flood. Read more here.

Here are some more pictures I saw online at  http://community.vanguardngr.com

The State Government declared today as a work free with a view to reducing the anticipated traffic jam! Well I heard the news while I was almost at work... Well, I really have no choice but to come to work sha

This is Lagos! Eko o ni baje o o o!

Christy Essien-Igbokwe moves on...

Christy Essien-Igbokwe, also known as "Apena" (New Masquerade)  left this World yesterday morning.

Incidentally, after doing some Tweets with LADYGUIDE, re: #nametheartist yesterday, I just kept singing some of her songs. I was going down memory lane... So you can imagine my shock when I heard the news yesterday evening, that this wonderful woman died early yesterday morning. It only means, while I was singing her songs, she had left this plane...

Apart from "Omo mi seun re re" she also has some other hit songs such as "Give me a Chance" and "Time waits for no one". I remember her album, because the plate was the only LP with a green colour.

She will surely be remembered and missed. I pray that God grants her family the fortitude to bear the loss.

REST IN PEACE AUNTY CHRISTY!
